Dallas-St. Mark's Earns Payback In SPC Title Game

The Dallas-St. Mark's Lions have repeated as champions of the Southwest Preparatory Conference after defeating Holland Hall 10-to-7 Saturday afternoon in Tulsa.

The Lions avenged a regular season loss to the Dutchmen with the win, their second straight SPC title and second straight title victory over the Dutch.

St. Mark's got on the board first when Ty Montgomery hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Hayes midway through the second quarter for a 7-0 lead.

The lead grew to 10-0 minutes later when the Lions cashed in one of four Holland Hall turnovers as Dean Itani booted a 42-yard field goal.

But, the Dutchmen responded, taking their next possession in for a 3-yard touchdown run by Luke Sweeney to pull within three points at halftime.

It was the last time either team would dot the scoreboard as the teams combined for six second-half turnovers.
