Monday, November 09, 2009

Oklahoma City (AP) - With the high school football playoffs about to start, there's a new No. 1 team in Class 4A.

Weatherford climbed to the top of the rankings Monday after finishing the regular season as the only team in the class with a perfect 10-0 record.

Glenpool fell from the No. 1 ranking after its 23-game winning streak was snapped in a 34-20 loss to No. 4 Star Spencer. With Glenpool's fall, the Eagles rose to the top spot for the first time since Sept. 30, 2003, when they opened the season 4-0.

The only preseason No. 1 teams to make it through the season undefeated were Cascia Hall in Class 3A, Garber in Class B and Shattuck in Class C.

The other top-ranked teams in the state are: Jenks in Class 6A, Bishop Kelley in 5A, Davis in 2A and Tonkawa in Class A.
