Ford Award Week 10: Jenks' Zack Langer
Friday, November 13, 2009

The final nominee for the 2009 Ford Award is this season's breakout player, Jenks tailback Zack Langer.

He's gone from being a back-up to a standout and he does it each and every week.

"The offensive line makes it really easy for me," he says. "They make the holes and I just try to do my best to break tackles and get as many yards as I can get on every play."

And so far, that strategy has worked out. During the regular season finale, Zack ran the ball just seven times. But, on those seven carries, he managed 111 yards and three touchdowns. Just another game for Langer, who wasn't even the starter when the season began.

"I got the opportunity and I want to take advantage of it," he says. "Just trying my hardest and putting the work in. The offensive line does a great job. They just block every week and I just follow them."

And, as simple as it sounds, it has worked to the tune of nearly 15-hundred yards and 28 touchdowns. Those stats sound like a Ford Award nominee to us.
