Cobbs Injured In First Round Playoff Game
Friday, November 13, 2009
One of the state's best high school football players was helped off the field after suffering a calf injury.
Central's Demarco Cobbs suffered the injury with 4:30 left in the first half of tonight's playoff game against Bixby.
Cobbs wasn't touched on the play and quickly limped toward the sideline, but fell to the turf in pain.
The Braves scored on the very next play and were leading Bixby 13-10 at halftime before the Spartans rallied for a 17-13 win.
We're told Cobbs' injury was not considered serious, but he was in street clothes for the second half and didn't return.
Cobbs has rushed for more than 13-hundred yards and 17 touchdowns and passed for 630 yards and seven scores. He also has three kickoff returns for touchdowns and one punt return for a touchdown.
The week five nominee for the Ford Award has committed to play football at the next level at Texas.
