Broken Arrow Outlasts Midwest City, 24-17
Saturday, November 21, 2009

Archie Bradley passed for two touchdowns and ran for another as Broken Arrow advanced to the Class 6A semifinals with a 24-17 win over Midwest City Friday night in Midwest City.

The Bombers (9-3) took an early 3-0 lead on Craig Wise's 35-yard field goal. But, Broken Arrow responded with Bradley's 39-yard touchdown pass to Ronnie Price for a 7-3 lead.

It appeared that's what the score would be at halftime. But, on the final play of the first half, Bradley connected with Alex Cochran on a 55-yard strike to give the Tigers a 14-3 lead at the break.

Bradley added a 19-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give the Tigers (10-2) a 21-3 advantage with 6:15 remaining.

Midwest City returned to the end zone minutes later when Greg Austin hit James Flanders with a 40-yard touchdown pass, pulling the Bombers within 21-10.

Broken Arrow kicker Carl Salazar booted a 37-yard field goal remaining to make it a two touchdown game with 9:14 remaining in the fourth quarter.

But, Midwest City didn't go quietly. J.R. Head scored on a five-yard run to trim the lead to just seven points. But, the Bombers had other chances in the fourth quarter that ended with turnovers.

Their last opportunity ended with a turnover on downs at the 36 yard line.

With the win, Broken Arrow moves into the semifinals for the first time since 2005. They will face the same team they did that season -- the Union Redskins.

The two teams met in the season opener with Union coming away with a 17-6 win.
