For the fourth time in five seasons, Bixby and Guthrie will meet in the Class 5A playoffs.

Bixby went to Shawnee and rallied to beat the previously unbeaten Wolves 28-21 Friday night.

Trailing 14-0 after the first quarter, Bixby used a pair of rushing touchdowns from DeWitt Jennings and touchdown pass from Kevin Lamb to Austin White to tie the game at 2-21 heading to the fourth quarter.

Then, a halfback option pass from Jennings to Donovan Wilson with just under four minutes to play gave the Spartans (8-4) the victory.

Guthrie (8-4) also had to rally to make the semifinals. The Blue Jays trailed 24-18 before a 55-yard touchdown pass from Bryan Dutton to Corbin Crockett in the fourth quarter lifted the team to a 25-24 win.

The difference in the game? A second quarter two-point conversion run way back in the first quarter.

Guthrie has won two of the three meetings against Bixby, including the 5A championship game, 16-3.

The time and place for the semifinal game have yet to be announced.
