Jenks And Union Prepare For Another 6A Title Game
Wednesday, December 02, 2009
Friday night at TU's Chapman Stadium, it's the Class 6A state high school football championship, once again pitting bitter rivals top-ranked Jenks against number two Union.
The Trojans are trying to become the first undefeated state champion in Class 6A since 2002. We were at Jenks practice Tuesday as they prepare to ty and win a tenth state title in the last 14 years.
The Trojans have the number one ranked offense in 6A, averaging 46 points per contest. Union, the defending state champions, has the top ranked defense, allowing just nine points per game.
"It's a focused bunch of kids," says Jenks Interim Head Coach Loren Montgomery. "From day one, they've been focused on the prize at the end and they're a good group of kids. They've done everything we've asked them to do and so, we don't have any problems there getting the guys focused and ready to go on Friday."
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Jenks is 13-and-0 and handed Union its only defeat of the season, 27-25 back on September 11th.
