Bartlesville Football Team Earns 6A Title
Friday, December 04, 2009
The Bartlesville Bruins finished off one of the most successful seasons in team history recently. And, while it didn't pick up a gold ball for their play on the field, they have earned a championship off it.
The Bruin varsity football team will be recognized at Chapman Stadium tonight as the Class 6A state academic champions, shortly before the Class 6A title game between Union and Jenks.
Bartlesville head coach Ron Smith and players will be on hand to accept the trophy, given to the team with the highest cumulative grade point average.
Bartlesville's combined GPA was 3.374.
The Bruins finished the 2009 season 9-and-3 and advanced to the second round of the Class 6A playoffs.
