Sapulpa Tops Coweta In Scrimmage
Sapulpa didn't win a single game last year. But, they got the scrimmage season off to a good start with a 10-7 win over Coweta Thursday night.

It had to feel good for head coach Trandy Birch, who is in his second season at Sapulpa after leading Coweta for four seasons.

Last season, when the two teams met in a scrimmage in Broken Arrow, it was Coweta who came away with a win.

The Chieftains were one of four teams participating in scrimmages Thursday night in Sapulpa.

In the first game, two of the state's most prized high school football recruits went head to head in Sand Springs' Johnny Deaton and Central's DeMarco Cobbs.

Deaton's Sandites got the best of the Braves, earning a 27-to-13 win.
