Bixby, East Central Battle In Scrimmage
Bixby and East Central could only watch as Booker T. Washington won the 5A title last year. This year, both teams hope it's their turn at the top.

Friday night, both teams clashed in a scrimmage at East Tulsa Sports Complex. The Spartans and Cardinals each moved the ball well.

Kevin Lamb is expected to lead Bixby this year and he scored a touchdown on a quarterback sneak while our cameras were there.

Also caught by our cameras? An incredible interception by Marcus Rifia. The ball bounced off the Bixby receiver's hands and onto Rifia's back. Rifia, who was on the ground, was able to wrap his arms around and grab the ball before it hit the turf.

The Cardinals are expected to return to the top of Class 5A-4 after relinquishing the title for the first time in six seasons. Bixby will have to beat defending champ Booker T. Washington to regain its 5A-3 title.

East Central won the title in 2005 over Bixby while Bixby also fell in the championship game in 2007.
