Jon Kolb was an all-state center for the Owasso Rams in the mid 1960s who went on to win four Super Bowl titles with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970s.
Kolb was born in Ponca City on August 30, 1977 and attended Owasso High School, lettering in 1962, 1963 and 1964. As a senior, he was named to the All-State team, becoming the first All-State player in Owasso's history.
Kolb was also an outstanding track and field athlete -- at one time holding the conference shot put record -- and also played for the Rams' basketball team.
Jon signed with Oklahoma State and was named All-Big 8 center in 1967 and 1968 and was All-American in 1968.
He was selected by the Steelers with the 56th overall pick in the third round of the 1969 NFL Draft and became the starting offensive tackle in 1971. He spent his entire 12 year career with the Steelers, winning four Super Bowl titles and earning First Team All-Pro in 1979.
After he retired, Kolb was a strength and conditioning coach with Pittsburgh and later served as defensive coordinator for Grove City College in Pennsylvania for six years.
He also founded Adventures in Training with a Purpose, or ATP, which serves veterans and first responders, offering free physical and mental health services. It also serves civilians who are living with chronic diseases and illness.
