Roland Names Kenaytta Wright Head Coach

Former Vian, Oklahoma State and NFL linebacker Kenyatta Wright is now a head football coach.

Wright was named head coach at Roland Friday. Most recently, Wright had been the Director of Football Business at Oklahoma State University.

He previously held assistant coaching positions at Fort Gibson, Muskogee and at his alma mater, Vian.

Wright was an All-State linebacker at Vian in 1995 and was the District 2A-8 Defensive MVP after helping lead the Wolverines to the Class 2A quarterfinals.

In his high school career, he had 403 tackles. He chose Oklahoma State over many other Division I college offers and went on to be a four-year starter for the Cowboys, earning two second-team All-Big 12 selections.

He played in 74 career NFL games with the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.

Wright takes over a team that was 2-8 last season.

Roland's last winning season was in 2021 when the Rangers went 6-3 and the last playoff appearance came in 2015 when the team went 11-2, won District 3A-8 and advanced to the Class 3A quarterfinals.
